DragonVenture
Chosen by Biopharmaceutical Company Zengen to Provide Consulting
Services
Palo Alto, Calif. September 10, 2002
Silicon Valley based cross-Pacific consulting and venture capital
firm DragonVenture, Inc. today announced it has been chosen by
Zengen to provide consulting services to assist Zengen in tapping
into the immense Chinese pharmaceutical and over-the-counter health
product markets.
Zengen is a biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering,
developing and commercializing innovative products to treat and
prevent infection and inflammation through application of its
patented peptide technologies. Zengen’s strategy is to demonstrate
the capabilities of its technologies and, where appropriate, enter
into collaborative arrangements with other pharmaceutical companies
that possess complementary capabilities, development resources or
other assets. Because China’s biopharmaceutical industry shows signs
of exponential growth, both Zengen and DragonVenture believe this is
the right time to enter the vast China market.
“It is not a question of whether a biopharmaceutical company should
enter the Chinese market,” says R. Steven Davidson, Ph.D., President
and CEO of Zengen, “rather, it is a question of whether a company
can afford not to enter the China market.” Tony C. Luh, Managing
Director of DragonVenture, adds, “we are excited at this unique
opportunity to assist Zengen in penetrating the huge and relatively
untapped China market. China’s biopharmaceutical industry represents
huge potential and upside for Zengen.”
Under the terms of their agreement, DragonVenture will advise Zengen
on its international expansion on many fronts. DragonVenture will
identify and introduce Zengen to well-established drug and health
care industry partners in China. In addition, it will provide Zengen
with strategic advice on the best ways to approach such partners in
China and engage in meaningful business discussions. DragonVenture’s
advisory role also includes consulting Zengen on removing cultural
and language barriers that may arise during Zengen’s China-entry
endeavors.
