DragonVenture Portfolio Company Plato Acquired by Cadence
San Jose, California, March 13, 2002
Silicon Valley Based cross-Pacific venture capital
and consulting firm DragonVenture, Inc. today witnessed a significant
addition to its track record. Its portfolio company, Plato Design
System, an IC routing start-up, was acquired by Cadence Design Systems,
Inc., the world’s largest supplier of electronic design technologies,
methodology services, and design services.
Plato Design Systems provides scalable routing and
physical design optimization solutions to close the gap between
design productivity and silicon technology. Cadence acquired it
in a move to enhance its system-on-chip routing technology. Founded
in September 1999, Plato Design Systems is a young start-up with
24 employees. As its early believer and soft incubator, DragonVenture
was exceptionally instrumental in helping Plato succeed in securing
its initial round of financing. This newly born acquisition paved
the road for DragonVenture’s future investment focuses, one of
which is to invest in world class IC design houses, related EDA
applications, and related enabling infrastructure in telecom, wireless,
and consumer electronics industries.
