Silicon Valley based cross-Pacific venture capital and consulting firm DragonVenture is pleased to see the sustained success of its efforts to opening doors to the China market for US companies. Following successful China trade missions for the tool and die industry in year 2002, the company led, in mid March 2003, a US office furniture delegation for a week-long visit to a number of cities in the Greater China Region.

US companies on the delegation are members of the Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturer’s Association (BIFMA), a non-profit trade association with membership of over 260 companies representing over 80% of the value of North American shipments of office furniture. The long-planned trade mission to China is the pure and clear statement of BIFMA members’ multiple and diverse interests to explore outsourcing, sales, distribution and licensing opportunities in the vast China market.

DragonVenture has played a significant role in advising the delegates of trip destination selection, introducing them to the right companies of their interests, as well as ensuring good logistics arrangements. As a result, the delegates embarked on a trip encompassing five cities (Taipei, Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shunde and Panyu) with strong furniture manufacturing bases in seven days. For most of the members of the delegation, this trip was a big eye-opener. Throughout the trip, delegates found out first hand how many manufacturers, already equipped with advanced machinery, are taking advantage of the low cost labor in China in an effective and organized way.

24 people representing over 20 firms participated in the delegation.
