DragonVenture Appoints Venture Partner

San Jose, Calif. March 1, 2005

DragonVenture today names Dr. Jie Tian to the post of Venture Partner – China. Dr. Tian, elected one of the top 10 scientists in China in 2004 and a member of the prestigious Chinese Academy of Sciences, is an early embracer of the Internet age. He is the founder of and has been the chairman of DigiArk Information Corporation since 1999. DigiArk is a renowned Internet software company in Beijing. In 2000, Dr. Tian was invited to present “Considering the development of Internet in China” at the Harvard China Review. Dr. Tian received his Ph.D degree (with honors) in artificial intelligence from the Institute of Automation, Chinese Academy of Sciences, in 1992. Between 1994 and 1996, he was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1996, Dr. Tian became a pioneer in the Internet space in China by founding ReadChina.com and acted as its CEO until 1999. Among other titles he holds, Dr. Tian is currently a reviewer for the American Mathematical Society; Director of Special Social Committee of Pattern Recognition and Machine Intelligence of the Chinese Society of Automation; Deputy Director of the China Automation Recognition Society; and a senior member of the International Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). “With Dr. Tian’s active participation in our fund,” comments Bobby Chao, DragonVenture’s Chairman and DragonFund China 2005’s General Partner, “we are adding a great knowledge base, a true visionary and a great source of Chinese deal flow to our upcoming fund.
